Bertrand Russell was born in England in 1876, the son of an Aristocrat. He was educated privately and showed an early aptitude for mathematics. He entered Cambridge when he was fifteen where he was taught by a famous mathematician Alfred North Whitehead.

Russell and Whitehead were to form a collaboration which lasted for many years.
