1.2.5.4 Completeness and consistency

Hilbert dismissed questions such as " is mathematics true " as meaningless. He coined two new words 'consistency' and 'completeness'

Consistency means that no mathematical theorem that is proved would ever contradict a previous theorem

Completeness means that in principle all mathematical assertions can be proved

Hilbert claimed that mathematics was comsistent and complete.

Unfortunately along came Kurt Godel.....
