Most peoples minds are patterned and their thinking moves along preprogrammed paths.

The lateral thinking approach is illustrated by the analogy of traffic moving along a main highway. It may however, often be easier to reach a destination by taking a side road and by passing the highway. It is sometimes easier to reach a solution by addressing the problem from a non-standard approach.
